Feel Life-Beyond Goals

I want to live in a way that makes me glad to be alive. Not from my “outer image,” the expression of my “avatar” but from my inner child, the person I really am. I’m no longer a facade, but abundant energy that expresses itself without effort.

My main objective is to figure out what’s right for me now. It’s no longer about goals, it’s about feeling; about the feelings that the accomplishment of goals delivers. It’s about the “good stuff” that follows the effort and accomplishment.

Every day, every month, every year is a new beginning. What I did yesterday is a memory and forever history. What I do today and tomorrow are choices to be reimagined as I choose. Who I was yesterday will only continue today if I choose it.

And if I choose a different path, I will move away from where and who I am today. The entire point of living is making conscious choices about who I wish to become, where I want to arrive, and more importantly, how I want to feel.

As we age our energy naturally begins to decline. And, as we age we must actively manage our energy, this precious essential resource that empowers radiant living. A surplus of energy applied to our desired feelings results in our own transformation, our continued growth.

New habits, new routines don’t immediately feel good at the beginning. Because they are not familiar, they are often awkward and uncomfortable. The question is not does this feel good today, but rather can I grow with and into the new activity and feel amazing in the future. Will my new “whatever” it is, grow with me and help me become the person I desire to be?

A higher version of today begins with feeling abundant energy everyday. Feeling connected, inspired, energetic, and hopeful. It’s a feeling of full, “topped off,” satisfied, and available. It’s also a feeling of moving and accomplishing my vision in a measured and methodical routine, often referred to as a process. My Higher Version of Today is based in accomplishment. It’s the process of creating a need for myself and then working to satisfy that need. Seeing an opportunity and seizing it. It’s all about movement; overcoming entropy and stagnation. The continuous application of time and energy toward a goal, and ultimately feeling the fulfillment of my desire.

In Practice

Each day supplement the satisfaction of completing your daily to do list with a repose and “feeling” moment. Consider the items completed and then ask yourself how you feel about your accomplished acts and then consider if the actions were worth the time and energy invested.

Action Item

Choose one act or habit that has been important in your life to move away from. Realize that this act, as important as it was, is now holding you back from evolving into the person you wish to become. Now choose a new habit and begin replacing old with new. This is the essential exercise of personal growth.
